Waiver and Release of Liability

Effective for All Events Hosted by Grand Athletics

By completing registration or participating in any Grand Athletics event, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms, which serve as a binding waiver and release of liability.

General Release of All Claims

In consideration of my voluntary participation in the athletic activity described below, I hereby assume all risks of injury, illness, or damage that may arise from or be related to my participation, including, but not limited to, property damage, bodily injury, personal injury, or death.

I fully release, hold harmless, and forever discharge the following entities and their respective staff, officials, employees, volunteers, agents, contractors, sponsors, representatives, successors, and affiliates (collectively, the “Released Parties”):

• Grand Athletics

• Simplicity Logistics (SLG)

• Any schools, colleges, universities, cities, counties, facility operators, or host venues where a Grand Athletics event is held

• Any governing athletic organizations or timing companies involved in the event

• Including but not limited to Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, CA), Cerritos College, Los Angeles Valley College, and their respective Trustees

• The City of Sherman Oaks, City of Norwalk, City of Van Nuys, the County of Los Angeles, and the State of California

• Any additional site owners, event partners, facility hosts, and sponsors not specifically named above but associated with the operation of any Grand Athletics event, now or in the future

This release includes, without limitation, all claims arising out of or related to the alleged negligence, acts, or omissions of the Released Parties and applies to all current and future Grand Athletics events, regardless of location.

Acknowledgment of Risks

I understand that participation in track and field activities involves certain inherent risks, including but not limited to physical injuries, heat-related illness, dehydration, and accidents during running or athletic competition. I voluntarily choose to participate with full knowledge of these risks and assume full responsibility for my actions.

I understand and acknowledge that no medical staff will be present on the track during the event, and I am responsible for my own medical needs, hydration, and emergency supplies.

Binding Agreement

This release is binding upon my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin. It is intended to be interpreted as broadly and inclusively as permitted under applicable law. If any part of this release is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full legal force and effect.

Medical Consent

I authorize any emergency medical treatment deemed necessary while participating and accept full financial responsibility for all related expenses. I release the Released Parties from any claim arising out of such treatment.

Media Release

I grant Grand Athletics and its event partners the right to capture and use photos, videos, or interviews of me for event coverage, marketing, or promotional use — without compensation or further consent.

Indemnification

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, demands, actions, costs, liabilities, or expenses, including legal fees, that may arise from my participation in the event, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

Additional Terms

By participating in a Grand Athletics event, I also agree to the official Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and any applicable USATF liability waivers, all available at https://grandathletics.org. My online registration shall serve as my legal acknowledgment in place of a physical signature. This waiver applies to all Grand Athletics events unless otherwise stated.

Spectator and Visitor Notice

Grand Athletics events are open to spectators and visitors at their own risk. By entering the premises of any Grand Athletics event, all non-participants (including spectators, parents, coaches, and guests) acknowledge that athletic events carry inherent risks and agree to waive any and all claims against Grand Athletics, its affiliates, event hosts, sponsors, staff, and facility operators for injuries or damages that may occur while observing or being present at the event venue. Presence at the event shall constitute acknowledgment and acceptance of these terms.

Non-Participant Acknowledgment and Waiver (Coaches, Staff, Parents, and Guests)

This waiver and release of liability also applies to any non-competing individual present at the event, including but not limited to coaches, team staff, athletic trainers, parents or guardians, volunteers, vendors, photographers, and media representatives.

By entering any Grand Athletics event venue, these individuals agree to assume full responsibility for any risk of injury, illness, or property loss that may occur, and voluntarily release Grand Athletics and all affiliated parties from liability, including claims arising from the negligence or acts of the Released Parties.

This includes injury sustained while walking the venue, accessing team or restricted areas, assisting athletes, or otherwise being involved in meet-related activity. Attendance or presence on-site shall serve as acknowledgment and legal agreement to these terms.

Event Information

Type: Any and all activities and presences related to Grand Athletics events, including but not limited to voluntary and extracurricular athletic participation, competition, coaching, officiating, volunteering, team management, spectating, guest attendance, media coverage, vending, and use of event facilities.

Covered Activities and Attendees Include: Running, sprinting, jumping, warming up, cooling down, training, coaching, officiating, volunteering, assisting athletes, managing teams, spectating, guest attendance, vendor services, media work, and any other involvement at Grand Athletics events.

Applies To: All current and future events hosted, co-hosted, or affiliated with Grand Athletics, at any venue or facility, in any city, county, or state, regardless of date or location.

If the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must acknowledge this release on their behalf during online registration.
